“The old has gone, the new has come!”
In times like these, when the world is troubled over questions of security, financial and otherwise, children of God need to pause and remind each other not to be afraid or discouraged. These words of Paul from 2 Corinthians 5:17 relate to our daily lives. Each day things pass away and new things begin. Our job is to let the old go things go and embrace the new things in faith.
That’s what the Smiths are doing now as they are in the process of retiring from the German mission field and relocating to the states in 2011.
Christ’s Church of Herford (Christus-Gemeinde Herford) here has been seeking a pastor for two years, and, with the calling of Matthias Muller, Brian made his last farewell in July to the church the couple planted in Herford, Germany.
But they are still busy. On the same Sunday they said good-bye, they met a German pastor, Lutz Heipmann, and plan to work with him to plant a church with a group of Christians who have been meeting but do not have a church. The Smiths are looking forward to working alongside a German pastor to plant a church instead of in the traditional model of a missionary starting a church in another country.
