CCV Zimbabwe - Pastor Misheck

Pastor Misheck had first services in Zimbabwe this weekend. As you recall Misheck was the Bulembu Pastor and has been called to Zimbabwe..  Pastor Kevin Ward has taken over for Misheck in Bulembu, Swaziland.

I received this from Pastor Misheck.“We had our first service on Sunday 08 June 2008. We prayed and believed God for 10 people to start with and God faithfully gave us exactly ten people. I have the pictures ands I will keep you updated. This coming Sunday, we will have our first holy communion Sunday. My brother has also come to Harare to help me in this work. We are also starting a football team, CCV Stars just like what is written on the balls which we were given by your son -in -law, I can't remember his name. Please tell him that he sowed a powerful seed which will definitely seen in its fruit.
We also have serious challenges as a church and family as everything is just starting. I need your help as has never before. Zimbabwe has serious challenges economically which makes life really tough. We are settled now and we are believing God for sustenance as we continue to serve Him. Its like Zimbabwe has no money any more because almost everything, we buy in forex, US$ and Rands. Otherwise I want to assure you that we are ok as a family and we are enjoying the work in Zimbabwe. Friends and family are really supporting us. We love you. Please pass our love to Sheila and the whole family. I hope to receive your call tomorrow Tuesday”.

CCV Goes to Peru !!! June 2008

Some Mission trips require expertise in building homes, or some demand that we serve in the medical field, and even some require that we provide service and supplies. Peru however was different; the trip to Trujillo required that we use our voice. We worked with Proyecta Esperenza (Project Hope) whose goal is to bring hope, healing, and help to those with needs in Trujillo. Much of their work is in some of the poorest parts of Peru (barrios) or in the homes and schools of people who have the same needs just as you and I.  On this specific trip we, a group of six English-speaking young adults, were sent into numerous universities in the hope of practicing the English they’ve been studying in their classes. It was during these intentional times of dialogue that God opened the way for meaningful dialogue and friendship. The barriers of language, culture, and upbringing were demolished, giving us the chance to connect with each other as fellow human beings, not foreigners. This work we did allowed those who faithfully serve in Project Hope to gain about 250 contacts. Through the students that sign up from the contacts list, Project Hope will impact the student’s life, and in turn, use the student to help impact the lives of others in Trujillo such as the poor or sick. The goal is to see many of the people in Trujillo come to Christ through the actions of mercy, kindness, and generosity; Project Hope does such a good job of this that all of us who went on the trip are working to go back next summer so we can continue to invest in what God has been doing in Trujillo, Peru.
